Trivia About FishJelly fish are deadlier to humans than sharks. A certain kind of box jelly fish kills more humans than all the shark species combined. The whale shark is the largest fish in the world, weighing up to 20 tons. It can grow to a length of 40 feet. The stone fish is the most poisonous fish in the world. In Japan, the fugu, or spiny puffer, is considered a delicacy. However, if it is not handled properly, powerful neurotoxins from its liver and intestines can contaminate the meat. Only a slight amount can be deadly. Restaurants which serve fugu must have "fugu certified" chefs. Even so, about 100 people die annually from fugu poisoning. Fish cannot blink because they do not have eyelids. They have no need for eyelids, whose purpose is to hydrate the eyes by spreading the moisture produced by the tear ducts. If the Loch Ness monster exists, scientists estimate that it could only weigh about 67 pounds. A cold blooded animal needs to eat about three times it body weight annually. Using sonar, scientists estimated the amount of fish in Loch Ness and determined that the food supply would be about 200 pounds. If a goldfish is kept in the dark for long enough, it will turn white. An African fish called the elephant snout communicates with other fish by emitting an electrical signal in different patterns. Kind of like a fish's version of the Morse Code. The Queen of England owns all the sturgeon caught in British waters. Caviar is from the eggs of the sturgeon.
