A German U-Boat was sunk by a truck during World War II. The U-boat had struck a convoy in the Atlantic Ocean. It then rose to see the effect of the strike. The merchant ship which it sank had a fleet of trucks strapped to its deck. One of them was thrown into the air by the explosion and landed on the U-boat, sinking it.

In a poll taken in the US during WWII, Jews were rated four times less favorably than the Japanese or Germans, even though they were fighting them in the war.

When World War II began, Platinum was declared a strategic metal by the US government. It could not be used in jewelry. White gold was used as a substitute.
